About GridFix
GridFix is an independent project. We build small, free tools that run in your browser, and we write guides that explain the rules behind them in plain English.
What we do
Our first tool is a photo resizer for passport and visa applications. It crops your picture to the size an application asks for and compresses it to a file size limit. Everything happens on your device, so your photo is never uploaded to our servers.
How we write our guides
We base each guide on the official instructions published by the relevant government or consulate, and we link to those pages at the bottom of the article. We show a "last updated" date on every guide. Photo rules change from time to time, so please treat our guides as a starting point and confirm the details on the official page before you apply.
Our editorial standards
- Every guide is written from the official instructions of the relevant government or consulate, and links to them.
- Each guide shows the date it was last updated.
- We don't accept payment to write about, rank or recommend any service.
- Errors are fixed as soon as we confirm them.
How the site is funded
GridFix is free to use. We may show ads through Google AdSense to cover running costs. Ads never change what we write, and we don't write sponsored content.
What we are not
GridFix is an independent website. We are not a government agency, an embassy or a visa service, and we can't submit or guarantee the acceptance of any application.

If you find something that is wrong or out of date, please write to us. We check every report against the official source and fix confirmed errors as soon as we can.
